Serving a Global Community of Learners
OEDC Language Disability
Language disability and/or related language deficits account for the vast majority of learning difficulties in schools today. Understanding how to address these disabilities, or how they may be related to disabilities like dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and hearing disability to mention a few, has been found to be very helpful to regular and special educators alike.
The OEDC offers schools and communities the opportunity to learn how today’s educators deal with these challenges in and out of the classroom based on years of experience of mainstreaming students faced with these challenges. Specialists working in educational settings, like special educators, speech-language pathologists, guidance counselors, tutors, and psychologists need to be reminded they are not alone in the diagnosis, treatment and intervention of students with language weaknesses. Educators at all levels of service have found great value in the programming provided by the OEDC to better understand some of the complexities presented by these special students.
